St. Albert – Michael Cooper, MP for St. Albert-Edmonton, has written to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, Judy Foote and the President of Canada Post, Deepak Chopra requesting a business case for the closure of the St. Albert Canada Post office and for a plan to
ensure that services are maintained for the people of St. Albert.
Cooper said: “My office has received a number of emails and letters, from students, seniors and small business owners, concerned about the negative impact of this proposed closure. I have written to the appropriate Minister and Canada Post to request further details on why this decision has been made and what is being done to ensure that high level services are
maintained.”
The proposed closure would negatively impact small business owners who rely upon the bulk mail service, seniors who maintain postal boxes and students who require a Canada Post office to process student loan paperwork. The proposed closure of this office requires a strong business case and an effective plan to maintain services for the people of St. Albert.
