St. Albert, December 16th – Conservative MP Michael Cooper (St. Albert-Edmonton), the Official Opposition Deputy Justice Critic, will join Bret McCann, the son of Lyle and Marie McCann, to make a statement on Criminal Code reform. The statement will take place at the St. Albert Inn (156 St. Albert Trail) at 12:30 PM, Sunday December 18th.

Travis Vader’s conviction of first degree murder of the McCann’s was vacated after the trial judge applied an outdated section of the Criminal Code. The section had been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Canada in 1990. There are multiple other sections of the Criminal Code that have similarly been found to be unconstitutional, but remain in the Code.
