MEDIA ADVISORY

St. Albert, May 10, 2017 – Conservative MP Michael Cooper (St. Albert-Edmonton), will join Ms. Shelly-MacInnis-Wynn, the widow of RCMP Constable David Wynn and Alberta Federation
of Police Associations’ President Michael Elliott at the St. Albert Inn, Friday May 12, at 10:00 AM MST. They will respond to the decision of the Liberal dominated Justice Committee to recommend that the House of Commons not proceed with Bill S-217, known as Wynn’s Law.

RCMP Constable David Wynn was shot and killed in January 2015, by a career criminal out on bail. It was later discovered that critical information regarding the killer’s criminal history was not presented at the bail hearing due to a loophole in the Criminal Code. Bill S-217, also known as Wynn’s Law intended to close this loophole. Wynn’s Law passed in the Senate by a wide margin and recently passed 2nd reading in the House of Commons. Unfortunately the Liberal dominated Committee voted to not proceed with the Bill.
